Hourly Chime · MRongM

Privacy policy

Hourly Chime announces the time using Android system services. It has no app account, advertising, analytics, or MRongM-operated backend.

Effective date: 2026-08-03 · Developer: MRongM

1. Scope

This policy applies to the Hourly Chime Android application, also shown as 整点报时 in Simplified Chinese, published by MRongM. It does not control Android, your device manufacturer, or the text-to-speech engine installed on your device.

2. Data MRongM does not collect

Hourly Chime does not declare Android's Internet permission and includes no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, account, or cloud-storage SDK. The app does not transmit personal data, device data, usage data, advertising identifiers, or app settings to MRongM or a third-party server. MRongM therefore does not sell or share user data received from the app.

3. Information stored on your device

To provide the settings you choose, the app stores whether hourly chimes are enabled, the 12- or 24-hour format, the selected time zone, quiet-hour settings, and the selected app language in private app storage. These values are processed only on your device and are not personal information collected by MRongM.

4. Android permissions and system services

  • Alarms and wake lock: the app requests exact-alarm access, schedules the next hourly event, and may briefly keep the device awake while a requested announcement plays.
  • Restart and time changes: Android notifies the app after a normal restart, app update, or system time or time-zone change so it can restore the next chime.
  • Notifications and foreground playback: a notification is shown only while the short audio announcement service is active. Notification visibility is controlled by Android settings.
  • Text to speech: the current-time phrase and selected language are provided to the Android text-to-speech engine chosen on your device. The app checks for an installed offline voice and does not record audio or request microphone access. The TTS provider is a separate system component governed by its own terms and privacy practices.
  • Audio settings: the app requests alarm audio focus and checks alarm volume so it can report playback problems. It does not store or transmit your other audio activity.

5. Sharing and third parties

MRongM does not receive or share data from Hourly Chime. Android and your selected system TTS engine process the limited information described above to perform actions on your device. Your operating-system and TTS providers may have their own privacy policies, which MRongM does not control.

6. Retention and deletion

Local settings remain until you change them, clear Hourly Chime storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Clearing storage or uninstalling deletes the app's remaining local settings. Android backup is disabled for Hourly Chime. MRongM keeps no server-side Hourly Chime account or user record, so there is no server-side data to request for deletion.

7. Security

Hourly Chime minimizes data by keeping its settings in Android private app storage, disabling Android backup, and operating without app network access. No device or software environment can be guaranteed absolutely secure; you are responsible for keeping your device and system services updated and protected.

8. Children

Hourly Chime is a general time utility and is not directed to children. MRongM does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app because the app does not transmit user data to MRongM.

9. Changes

This policy may be updated when the app's behavior or legal obligations change. The effective date above will be revised, and material changes will be reflected on this page and in the app or store listing when required.
